The Vicar of Baghdad Garners Media Attention for His Autobiography, My Journey So Far
For years Andrew White has been an important contributor in the work of reconciliation in the Middle East. Bringing together Muslims and Christians, Israelis and Palestinians, Shia and Sunni, he has risked his personal safety in pursuit of larger goals. In
My Journey So Far, Andrew White tells the story of his remarkable life as the Vicar of St. George's Church in Baghdad, in which world leaders and famous figures have played a part. He talks of personal friendships with Yasser Arafat, Pope John Paul II, Billy Graham, Queen Elizabeth II, Tariq Aziz, Ariel Sharon, Justin Welby, David Petraeus, and George Carey. He also recounts his own kidnapping, as well as his involvement in hostage negotiations and his role in ending the siege at the Church of Nativity in Jerusalem.
During a recent media tour Andrew White has been interviewed by
The Independent, BBC One, BBC Five, and
Christian Today, and has given a sermon at the famous St. Paul's Cathedral in London.
