Two Kregel Titles Named 2023 Top Shelf Book Cover Award Winners

GRAND RAPIDS, MI--Two Kregel titles were presented the Top Shelf Book Cover Award during the ECPA's annual PubU event. The winners were announced via webcast on November 12 and included winners from four categories: Fiction, Nonfiction, Bibles, and Children's.
Hero Debut by Angela Ruth Strong was recognized as a winner in the Fiction category. This laugh-out-loud romance follows Gemma Bennett, a screenplay writer, who signs up for the Citizen's Safety Academy to research her newest blockbuster idea. The cover was designed by Elisha Zepeda from Faceout Studio and features a brightly colored comic-book-style illustration that gives the book a rom-com feel. The Top Shelf Award judge said, "I love the type placement and style of the illustration. The character's expression and reflection in the glasses makes the viewer want to know what she's looking at."
Coming to Faith Through Dawkins by Denis Alexander and Alister McGrath was recognized as a winner in the Nonfiction category. The book details the experience of former New Atheists who came to faith after questioning the conclusions drawn by Dawkins. The cover was designed by Faceout Studio's Jeff Miller and features a butterfly front and center surrounded by a bold pattern. The Top Shelf Award judge said, "The bold pattern--as bold as the wings of the butterfly, which sits in the background and even creeps into the foreground--seems to speak to the case made for intelligent design's place in discussions about evolution."
